Mark Bennett

The 1st trumpeter of Barokkanerne - Norwegian Baroque Ensemble, Mark Bennett, studied at the Royal College of Music with Michael Laird as teacher where he also received the Royal College Brass prize and then became interested in the natural trumpet. He is today one of the most used baroque trumpeters and has played Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no. 2 no less than 7 times. He has played for a long time in the leading English early music orchestra The English Concert but also London Brass and Baroque Brass of London, as well as Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and The English Baroque Soloists. Between 1990 and 2000, Mark Bennet was professor of baroque trumpet at the Royal College of Music in London. He has collaborated with conductors such as Esa Pekka Salonen, Claus Tennstedt, Franz Bruggen, Sir Roger Norrington, William Christie, Ton Koopman Iona Brown, Christopher Hogwood, Sir Simon Rattle, Philippe Herreweghe, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
