Júlia Arquillo

Spanish Soprano Júlia Arquillo has been lauded by the press for her “enchanting timbre and fluid coloratura”. She completed an Opera Masters and an International Lied Program at the Sibelius Academy. Arquillo's studies and career have been generously supported by Selim Eskelin (2021-2024) and Oopperan Kummit (2023-24). She was also recognised as one of the merit recipients of the M. Wegelius Foundation (2024).
Recently she was a finalist in the 16th International Lied Competition of the City of Brescia (Italy). Among her concerts, it is worth mentioning the oratorio Carmina Burana (C. Orff) and A Child of Our Time (M. Tippett) in the Big Hall of the Helsinki Music Centre, as a soloist under the baton of R. Laurikka and N. Schweckendiek, respectively. Additionally, the soprano has been part of the professional choir at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in both 2024 and 2025.
Arquillo has had the possibility to deepen her understanding of historically informed performance practice in different productions, such as Sibelius Academy's opera production L'incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi) and Stabat Mater (Pergolesi). She and the early music ensemble Oblica have been in close co-operation since 2024, when the musicians travelled to Barcelona supported by the Culture Moves Europe -travel grant and performed a program of Catalan early music music together at BRQ Vantaa -festival.
